The new Asus ROG Flow Z13 is a Windows tablet with a 13.4 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel, 180 Hz IPS LCD touchscreen display, a detachable keyboard and a ridiculously powerful processor.

Designed as a portable gaming computer that doesn't need a discrete GPU, the tablet is powered by an AMD Ryzen AI Max processor with discrete-level integrated graphics. Asus unveiled the ROG Flow Z13 (2025) during CES in January, and now it's available for pre-order for $2100 and up.

The starting price is for a model with an AMD Ryzen AI Max 390 processor with a 12-core, 24-thread CPU and Radeon 8050S graphics with 32 RDNA 3.5 GPU compute units, 32GB of LPDDR5X-8000 onboard memory, and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD.

But higher-priced configurations come with a Ryzen AI Max 395+ chip featuring 16-cores, 32-threads, and 40 RDNA 3.5 GPU computer units. Asus will offer four configuration options at launch:

All models feature a tablet with an aluminum body that measures 11.81″ x 8.03″ x 0.51″ and which weighs 2.64 pounds and features a 70 Wh battery, two full-function 40 Gbps USB ports, an HDMI 2.1 port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, a microSD card reader and 3.5mm audio jack.

Other features include a 13MP rear camera, a 5MP front-facing IR camera, and a detachable backlit keyboard.

Asus has also updated the design of its Windows gaming tablet, adding a clear panel on the back where you can see part of the motherboard below and adjust RGB lighting effects. There's also a new action button on one side of the tablet that gives you quick access to system settings.

One other change from earlier models? There's no longer a ROG XG Mobile port, which means you cannot use older versions of the Asus ROG XG Mobile external graphics dock with the 2025 ROG Z13 Flow. And while the tablet is technically compatible with the new ROG XG Mobile (2025) graphics dock (which supports USB Type-C connections), performance will be limited by the 40 Gbps USB4 ports on the tablet (the dock supports 80 Gbps Thunderbolt 5 connectivity).

Update: Early reviews from sites including Ars Technica and NotebookReview suggest that the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip really delivers on the promise of discrete-class graphics in an integrated GPU that's appropriate for a reasonably compact laptop or tablet. While the ROG Flow Z13 is a lot thicker and heavier than a typical Apple iPad or Microsoft Surface Pro tablet, it's a compact laptop-like PC that offers graphics performance that's around the level of an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 or even RTX 4070 mobile GPU… at least while the computer is plugged in and running without the power restrictions that apply when running on battery power alone.

CPU performance is also strong, and the display is said to be excellent. But there are some down sides. While the tablet supports up to 128GB of RAM, it's not user-upgradeable. So if you buy a 32GB model that's all your tablet will ever have. The speakers are apparently not very good, and the fans can get loud under load.
