Over the past two years a whole bunch of Chinese PC companies that are best known for making mini PCs or handheld gaming PCs have gotten into the external graphics dock business. And most of them have used the same AMD Radeon RX 7600M-XT GPU which is… fine, I guess.

But the new Morefine G1 is something a little different. This external graphics dock is about the size of a mini PC and comes with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40-series graphics. The graphics dock is available now from AliExpress for $604 and up… with an emphasis on "and up."

The starting price is for a model with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, which is the kind of mobile graphics chip that you'd expect to find in an entry-level gaming laptop. You can also pay more for a higher-performance GPU, but a top tier model costs more than twice as much as the entry-level configuration:

  • Morefine G1 with RTX 4060/8GB GDDR6 for $604
  • Morefine G1 with RTX 4080M/12GB GDDR6 for $1079
  • Morefine G1 with RTX 4090M/16GB GDDDR6 for $1285
  • The graphics dock measures 140 x 100 x 54mm (5.51″ x 3.94″ x 2.13″) and weighs 700 grams (1.54 pounds) and has a modular port section that provides two different options for connecting to a PC.

If you've got a computer with OCuLink support, you can use a module that features one OCuLink connector and one USB Type-C port. While the USB-C port supports theoretical data transfer speeds up to 40 Gbps as well as 85W USB Power Delivery, the OCuLink port enables an external PCIe 4.0 x4 connection with support for data speeds up to 64 Gbps.

Don't have hardware that supports OCuLink? You can use a module with two USB Type-C ports instead.

    Other ports include:

  • 2 x HDMI 2.0 (4K/60Hz)
  • 1 x DisplayPort 1.4 (4K/144Hz)
  • 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A (5 Gbps)
  • 1 x DC power input (19-20V/6.32A – 12A)
  • Morefine says the eGPU can drive up to four 4K displays if you use one of the USB-C ports for video output as well as the three dedicated video ports.

The system also supports fan speed adjustments that let you run the eGPU in "silent," "auto," and "high-speed" modes. While the Morefine G1 should offer the best performance in high-speed mode, it'll also be at its noisiest at this setting. Auto mode limits the fan speed to 80 percent for quieter performance, while "silent" mode caps the an speed at 70 percent of its maximum speed.
