This handheld game console only plays Tetris

Tetris celebrates its 40th birthday this year. The classic game has been ported to dozens of platforms and sparked many spinoffs and clones. And now it's coming to a new handheld game console that only plays Tetris… and nothing else.

Last year Digital Eclipse released Tetris Forever, a documentary and game compilation that includes 15 different playable games from the Tetris series. On February 25th a new Collector's Edition bundle goes up for pre-order for $140. It includes Tetris Forever, a poster, soundtrack, and some other goodies based on the iconic "tetrimino" shapes. Plus it comes with an "exclusive handheld unit with stand."

There aren't many details about that handheld unit, but it appears to have a Game Boy-like design with a small screen in the top section and a game controller on the bottom with a D-Pad and A, B, Start, and Select buttons.

The handheld is said to come with "two classic Tetris games" pre-installed.

While we don't know anything about the screen resolution, processor, memory, storage, battery, or other specs, that's probably beside the point. It doesn't take a lot of processing power to run a game that already runs smoothly on 40-year-old hardware. And while this is technically a game console, it's being positioned as part of a collector's edition bundle that also includes Nintendo Switch or PS5 games along with the other aforementioned goodies.
