Chinese mini PC maker GMK was one of the first companies to introduce a compact desktop computer powered by an AMD Strix Point processor that combines a Zen 5 CPU with RNA 3.5 graphics. Now, as expected, the company is one of the first to unveil a mini PC with a Strix Halo processor that offers discrete-class graphics.
The upcoming GMK EVO-X2 is a a mini PC with an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 16-core, 32-thread processor with an integrated Radeon 8060S GPU sporting 40 GPU compute units and a NPU that delivers up to 50 TOPS of hardware-accelerated AI performance. GMK says the EVO-X2 should be available in the second quarter of 2025.

GMK hasn't said much else about the upcoming computer yet, but unsurprisingly it appears to be a bit on the large side for a mini PC, likely in order to ensure there's adequate cooling for AMD's high-performance Strix Halo processor. But while the computer's not exactly pocket-sized, it's still small enough to take up much less space on a desk than a typical tower.
While AMD's Strix Halo processors are nominally mobile chips that are designed for gaming laptops and mobile workstation-class computers, these sorts of mobile chips have proven popular with mini PC makers in recent years because they perform well in space-constrained environments.
So far the only other companies that have announced Strix Halo-powered desktops are HP (which plans to offer a mini workstation-class desktop PC), and Framework (which designed a small modular desktop with a user-replaceable mainboard that supports a Strix Halo processor). Framework says one advantage to using this chip in a desktop rather than a laptop is that there's enough room for a high-performance cooling system, allowing the chip to run at high power levels for longer than may be possible in a notebook.
It's unclear whether that will be true of the GMK EVO-X2 though. More details should be announced closer to release.
