Microsoft's Recall software has had a rocky road to launch. First revealed almost a year ago as the most impressive AI-powered feature that would be coming to Copilot+ PCs with sufficiently powerful neural processing units, the idea was to make it easy to find just about anything you'd previously done on your computer by saving frequent snapshots and allowing you to find an interact with those snapshots using natural language searches.
But the announcement was met with alarm from folks worried about the privacy and security implications. So Microsoft delayed its launch. After making some changes, the company started rolling out a preview to some Windows Insiders in November. Now it's rolling out to Insiders on the Release Preview Channel, which means it could be coming to computers that aren't enrolled in Microsoft's Insider Preview program soon. Fortunately it continues to be an opt-in feature that you don't have to use if you don't want to.
Here's a roundup of recent tech news from around the web.
