• The Pixel Weather app's Weather Map feature, added in August 2024, has been unexpectedly removed without explanation.
• Users have reported the disappearance across various regions including the US, UK, Europe, and Japan, leaving them without a key real-time weather visualization tool.
• While other features remain functional, Google has yet to clarify whether this removal is intentional or a technical error.
Google has removed the Weather Map feature from the Pixel Weather app, causing confusion among users. This change has been observed across all Pixel devices and was noted by users on platforms such as Reddit and the Google Community forum. The removal happened following what appears to be a server-side change, meaning there was no official app update through the Play Store. The Weather Map, which was introduced in August 2024 in regions including the US, UK, Europe, and Japan, provided a six-hour precipitation forecast and tracked the movement of rainy clouds, making it popular for real-time weather updates. As of recently, this feature is no longer visible in the app, even in areas currently experiencing rain. Despite the removal of the Weather Map, other features like the AI Weather Report, Hourly Forecast, 10-day Forecast, as well as Wind and Precipitation data, remain available. The reason for this abrupt removal is still unclear, as it is uncertain whether it was intentional or an error. Users are hoping that Google will clarify the situation in the near future.
