The Radxa Dual 2.5G Router HAT is an add-on board for single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi 5, and several other single-board computers from Radxa (and theoretically other companies as well).

As the name suggests, the key thing it brings is two 2.5 GbE Ethernet ports, but the board also has an M.2 connector that you can use to add a PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD. The new board is available for about $40 from ARACE or AliExpress.

The HAT is designed to work with single-board computers that feature a Raspberry Pi-compatible 40-pin GPIO header and an FPC connector for PCIe 2.0 and 3.0 connections, which is why it only supports Raspberry Pi's newest credit card-sized computer and not older models. But Radxa offers a number of compatible boards including the ROCK 5C, ROCK 4D, and ROCK 2A and 2F.

Radxa's board actually uses an IPEX connector rather than FPC, but it comes with a FPC to IPEX adapter cable.

Once connected, the Dual 2.5G Router HAT gives  single-board computer:

  • 2  2.5 GbE Ethernet ports (Realtek RTL8125B controller)
  • 1 x M.2 2280 connector for PCIE 3.0/2.0 1-lane storage or other add-ons
  • 1 x 12V power input jack
  • The add-on board comes with a small heat sink and a set of screws and standoffs for securing the HAT to a single-board computer.
