Chinese PC makers have been offering mini ITX boards for build-your-own NAS solutions for at least a few years, but I recently ran across one that has an interesting mix of features including 6 SATA connectors for storage and three LAN ports: two with support for 2.5 Gb Ethernet connections and one with support for 10 Gigabit speeds.

Powered by a 6-watt, quad-core Intel N150 Twin Lake processor, the board officially supports up to 16GB of DDR5-4800 memory (although I suspect you could probably use a 32GB SODIMM if you wanted to). While boards like this tend to be sold under several different brand names, SZBOX calls it the 1264L-NAS and the company selling the board through AliExpress for $139 (although US shipping does not appear to be available at time of publication, likely due to tariffs).

The board features a single SODIMM slot for memory, two M.2 M-Key connectors for solid state storage, and support for up to 6 SATA 3 hard drives or SSDs.

Ports include:

  • 1 x 10 Gigabit LAN (AQC113-B1-C)
  • 2 x 2.5 Gb Ethernet (Intel i226-V)
  • 1 x USB Type-C
  • 1 x USB 3.0 Type-A
  • 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A
  • 1 x HDMI
  • 1 x DisplayPort
  • 1 x microSD card reader
  • While the USB port selection is rather underwhelming, it's worth keeping in mind that this board is clearly designed for network-attached storage, so it seems like the designers decided to prioritized high-speed network ports over high-speed USB ports.

Other features include connectors for an ATX power supply, CPU and system fans, and a few other odds and ends.
