The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a smartphone with flagship-class specs including a 6.7 inch, 120 Hz OLED display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage.

It's also one of the thinnest and lightest large-screen phones available, measuring just 5.8mm thick and weighing just 163 grams. By comparison, the Galaxy S25+ has the same display but measures 7.3mm thick and weighs 190 grams. So what did Samsung sacrifice in order to build a smaller flagship? It has the smallest battery of any Galaxy S25 series smartphone and fewer cameras than other models in the series.

When Samsung launched the Galaxy S25 series earlier this year the lineup consisted of the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. They featured 6.2 inch, 6.7 inch, and 6.9 inch screens, respectively.

All of the phones have 12MP cameras, and the smaller models have three rear cameras (12MP ultra-wide, 50MP wide, and 10MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom). But the Galaxy S25 Ultra has four rear cameras giving you more pixels and more optical zoom capabilities. And, unsurprisingly, the larger the phone the bigger the battery.

The new Galaxy S25 Edge shakes things up by featuring the smallest battery of the bunch even though it has the same display, processor, memory, and storage as the Galaxy S25+. And it has just two rear cameras instead of three or more – although the wide-angle camera is a 200MP camera that supports 2X optical zoom via smart cropping.

Samsung suggests that the phone's 3,900 mAh battery should still at least offer all-day battery life, but it seems pretty clear that customers who opt for this phone over others in the Galaxy S25 family will most likely be trading a bit of battery life for something that's a bit thinner and lighter… and more expensive.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is available for pre-order for $1100 and up, making it $100 more expensive than the Galaxy S25+.
