The new Acer Chromebook Plus 514 (CB514-6H/6HT) is ChromeOS laptop with an Intel Core 3 N355 octa-core processor based on Intel's Twin Lake architecture, and a 14 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel display with optional touchscreen support.
It's a relatively modest update over last year's model, but the new version brings a slightly faster processor, a slightly higher-res display and a few other goodies like wireless upgrades (the 2025 model supports WiFi 7 while the 2024 version topped out at WiFi 6E).
One thing that's not changing? The price tag – Acer says the new Chromebook Plus 514 will be available in the US in July with prices starting at $400.
That price also includes a free 12-month subscription to Google One AI Premium, which includes 2TB of cloud storage plus Gemini Advanced AI features. But keep in mind that you'll need to pay $20 per month if you want to keep those features after the first year.
The new Chromebook Plus 514 supports up to 16GB of RAM and 512G of PCIe NVMe storage, stereo speakers with DTS audio, and a set of ports that includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, and an HDMI port.
While Chromebook Plus-branded laptops are "premium" machines by Chromebook standards, this is still a laptop with a relatively low-power processor and a relatively low starting price. So it's a little disappointing, but not all that surprising to see that a backlit keyboard is only "optional" and not a standard feature.
