The MAIYUNDA Y104A is a network-attached-storage (NAS) system with an aluminum body, a robust set of ports including dual 2.5 GbE LAN ports and DisplayPort and HDMI ports for connecting up to two displays. And on the inside there's a single SODIMM slot for DDR5-4800 memory, four bays for 3.5 inch hard drives, and four M. 2280 slots for NVMe SSDs.
It's available now from AliExpress or Alibaba, with prices starting as low as $290 for a barebones model with no memory or storage. You can also pay extra at AliExpress for a model that comes with up to 32GB or RAM and a 1TB SSD.
One thing to keep in mind is that this system is powered by an Intel N150 processor. That's a low-cost, low-power chip that's part of Intel's Twin Lake lineup, and it only supports 9 lanes of PCIe 3.0 connectivity.
So while you can equip this system with up to 8 storage devices, note that any SSDs installed in the M.2 2280 slots will be limited to PCIe 3.0 x1 speeds. That shouldn't be a huge problem for a NAS with LAN ports that top out at 2.5 Gigabit speeds, but at the very least it means you're not going to want to spend too much money on super-speedy NVMe drives because the Y104A won't be able to tap their full potential.
The chip is also limited to single-channel memory, which is why the Y104A has only a single SODIMM slot. But MAIYUNDA says that single slot will support up ton 48GB of RAM (yes, I know Intel says these chips only support up to 16GB, but it's been widely demonstrated that they will recognize larger amounts).
The four hard drive bays are positioned on the front of the system, and they're designed to be hot swappable, with each unit made to be easy to release. The RAM and M.2 connectors are accessible by removing a panel o the bottom of the computer.
Ports include:
The MAIYUNDA Y104A has measures 262 x 132 x 166mm if you don't count the foot pads on the bottom of the chassis, or 173mm heigh if you do. There's ventilation on the front and back of the aluminum case, and a 120mm fan to help with cooling.
