Pironman 5-Mini is a smaller Raspberry Pi 5 case with an M.2 2280 slot and RGB fan

There's no shortage of cases for the Raspberry Pi line of single-board computers. But Sunfounder's Pironman line of cases stand out thanks to their gaming PC aesthetic that includes clear acrylic side panels and RGB lighting.

After launching the original Pironman 5 in 2024, Sunfounder introduced the Pironman 5-MAX earlier this year, bringing support for features like a second NVMe slot. Now there's a third option: the Pironman 5-Mini is a smaller, cheaper model that still makes the Raspberry Pi 5 look like an underpowered gaming rig.

Available now for $45 and up, the new case measures 101.5 x 98.6 x 67.8mm (4″ x 3.9″ x 2.7″) and features a silver aluminum body with transparent acrylic side panels, allowing you to see the RGB lights on the system's fan.

In addition to being smaller than the other Pironman cases, Sunfounder says the Mini offers easier assembly, which suggests that it may come with fewer adapter boards than the Pironman 5 that Ian reviewed last year.

It also lacks an IR receiver, has a single fan instead of dual fans, and lacks an OLED display.

But there's still a board that provides access to an M.2 2280 slot with support for PCIe 2.0/3.0 x1 NVMe storage, an AI accelerator, or other add-ons. There's also a GPIO extender that allows you to access the Raspberry Pi 40-pin header on one the side of the chassis. And the USB, HDMI, Ethernet, and other ports are accessible on the back and other side.

Note that the $45 starting price is just for the Pironman 5 case, adapter board, and fan. It does not include a Raspberry Pi 5. But you can pay extra for a kit that includes a Raspberry Pi 5 computer or optional items including a 3.5 inch touchscreen display, SSD, an SSD heat sink, or a camera module.
