Acer Chromebox Mini CXM2 is a compact, fanless ChromeOS computer with Intel Twin Lake

The Acer Chromebox Mini CXM2 is a mini PC with support for Intel N150, N250, or Core 3 N350 Twin Lake processors and up to 128GB of RAM. But as the name suggests, this isn't a mini PC designed to run Windows or other operating systems – it ships with Google's ChromeOS software pre-installed.

Available in Europe this month for €199 and up, the Chromebox Mini CXM2 won't be available in North America until early next year, when it's expected to sell for $330 and up.

The computer measures 161 x 120 x 34mm (6.4″ x 4.7″ x 1.3″) and features LPDDR5X RAM and up to 128GB  of eMMC storage, both of which are soldered to the mainboard and not designed to be user upgradeable.

There's is an M.2 slot inside the PC, but it holds a wireless card with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. support.

And on the bright side, the system is designed for passive cooling: there's no fan and no moving parts inside the chassis, which means it should be completely silent while running.

Ports include:

  • 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (10 Gbps)
  • 5 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
  • 2 x HDMI 2.1
  • 1 x Gigabit Ethernet
  • 1 x 3.5mm audio
  • 1 x DC power input
  • Acer says the computer supports up to three displays if you use a combination of HDMI and USB-C connections. The mini PC also features VESA mount support, allowing you to connect it to a wall mount or the back of a display.
