Acer introduces four big-screen Android tablets with 12.6 inch, 14 inch, and 16 inch displays

Acer is expanding its Android tablet lineup in a big way. Literally. The company is not only introducing four new models during the IFA show in Berlin this week, but all four of these tablets are BIG devices with large-displays ranging in size from 12.6 to 16 inches.

All four tablets feature built-in kickstands and quad speakers, and support for "Acer Screen Casting," which lets you use the tablets as wireless displays for a notebook over a WiFi network connection. Acer says its new tablets will ship with Android 15 when they hit the streets in North America, Europe, and select other markets. Most models will be available in November, but the 16 inch Acer Iconia A16 won't be available in North America until January.

Acer Iconia X12 (X12-21M)

The smallest of the bunch is this model with a 12.6 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel AMOLED display and mid-range specs including a MediaTek Helio G99 processor and support for up to 8GB of LPDDR4X memory and up to 256GB of UFS storage plus a microSDXC card reader and USB 2.0 Type-C port.

With a big, high-res display and a 20 Wh (8,000 mAh) battery that Acer says is good for up to 16 hours of run time, the Acer Iconia X12 could be a decent option for a media consumption device. But there's also support for an active stylus if you want to use the tablet for writing or drawing. There's no stylus included in the base price, but Acer says the tablet supports USI 2.0 and MPP 2.5 pens.

Other features include a set of pogo pins for an optional detachable keyboard, and support for WiFi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2. The tablet has a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera.

The Acer Iconia X12 measures 286.2 x 184.4 x 6.5mm (11.27″ x 7.26″ x 0.26″ and weighs 500 grams (1.1 pounds). It's expected to sell for $320 and up.

Acer Iconia X14 (X14-M1N)

This model has a larger, but lower resolution 14 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel AMOLED display. It also has a slightly higher starting price of $350.

Powered by an Allwinner A733 processor, this model is available with up to 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage… so the processor is likely a bit slower, but memory and storage should be faster on this tablet than they are on the 12.6 inch model.

Wireless capabilities are also a bit better, with support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. But there's no support for a stylus and no pogo pins for a detachable keyboard.

Other features include an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera, a USB 2.0 Type-C port, microSDXC card reader, and 20 Wh (8,000 mAh) battery.

The tablet measures 324.6 x 211 x 8mm (12.77″ x 8.3″ x 0.31″) and weighs 910 grams (2.01 pounds).

Acer Iconia A14 (A14-M1N)

Positioned as a slightly cheaper alternative to the Iconia X14, this tablet is similar in a lot of respects – it has the same processor, memory, storage, camera, speaker, battery, and wireless capabilities. And it's exactly the same size.

So why does it have a cheaper starting price of $300? Most likely because it has a 14 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel IPS LCD display rather than an AMOLED screen.

Acer's largest new tablet could easily be mistaken for a portable monitor thanks to its 16 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel IPS LCD display and built-in kickstand. And you can use it as one with Acer's Screen Casting software.

But it's also usable as a standalone Android tablet for streaming media, web browsing, gaming, or other tasks.

It has the same basic features as the Iconia X14 and A14, including an Allwinner A733 processor, up to 8GB of LPDDR5 memory, and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

This model measures 369.5 x 240.2 x 8.9mm (14.55″ x 9.46″ x 0.35″) and weighs 980 grams (2.16 pounds). It should be sell for $340 and up when it goes on sale in a few months.
