The AYANEO AM01S is a mini PC with a case designed to evoke a desktop computer from the 1980s, and a built-in 4 inch display that flips up from the top of the system. When AYANEO first launched the little computer last year it was available with Ryzen 8040HS processor options based on AMD's Hawk Point architecture.
Now the company has launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for new models with a choice of AMD Ryzen 7 8745HS Hawk Point or AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 Strix Point processors. Crowdfunding pledge levels start at for barebones configurations (without memory or storage) start at $349 for the Hawk Point version or $643 for the Strix Point model. The computer is expected to begin shipping to backers in November.

If you're wondering why the Strix Point model costs nearly twice as much, it's because the processor is newer and significantly more powerful. It features a 12-core, 24-thread CPU based on AMD's Zen 5 architectures, Radeon 890M integrated graphics with 16 RDNA 3.5 GPU compute units, and an NPU that delivers up to 50 TOPS of hardware-accelerated AI performance.
AMD's Ryzen 7 8745HS processor, on the other hand features an 8-core, 16-thread AMD Zen 4 CPU and Radeon 780M integrated graphics with 12 RDNA 3 GPU cores. It lacks an NPU.
All models of the mini PC feature two SODIM slots for DDR5 memory, two M.2 slots for PCIe NVMe storage, and dual fans for cooling. AYANEO says this allows the computer to support up to 65W of sustained performance.
Ports include:
The computer also features support for WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 and its flip-up display features a 4 inch, 960 x 400 pixel touch panel and a hinge that can be adjusted at angles up to 80 degrees.
The AYANEO AM01S measures 134 x 134 x 59.6 (5.28″ x 5.28″ x 2.35″).
As is often the case with AYANEO products, there are actually a lot of different pricing options available because the company also offers models with up to 32GB of RAM, up to 2TB of storage, and different color options (including "retro white" or "B.Duck").
