MediaTek's newest processor for flagship smartphones and tablets is one of the first processors to feature ARM's new C1 CPU cores and Mali G1 graphics. And when combined with the latest MediaTek technologies, the chip maker says the new MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor should deliver big boosts in CPU, graphics, and AI performance as well as energy efficiency improvements.
The first phones featuring the new chip should arrive before the end of the year.

Like MediaTek's last few flagship processors, the Dimensity 9500 foregoes the usual big.LITTLE design and goes all-in on "big," high-performance CPU cores… although that's not quite as straightforward a proposition as it used to be, because ARM offers several different versions of its C1 architecture, and MediaTek is making use of them all here.
So the 8-core processor features:
The CPU cluster also features 16MB of L3 cache and 10MB of SLC cache.
According to MediaTek, the result is a processor that should bring up to 32% faster single-core performance than the previous-gen Dimensity 9400, and up to 17% faster multi-core performance, while improving energy efficiency by as much as 30 percent.
Meanwhile, the chip also features ARM Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 graphics, MediaTek NPU 990, and Imagiq 1190 for graphics, AI, and image processing. Among other things, the company says that brings support for:
Other improvements include support for LPDDR5x-10667 memory, 4-channel UFS 4.1 storage (for up to twice the read/write speeds), improved efficiency for WiFi, Bluetooth, and 5G connectivity, and lower network latency "thanks to AI congestion prediction."
