The MINISFORUM MS-S1 Max is an upcoming computer with support for up to an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor, 128GB of LPDDR5x-8000 quad-channel memory with 256GB/s bandwidth, and the ability to run large large language models with over 100 billion parameters locally.
But that's true of plenty of mini PCs and mobile computers with AMD Strix Halo processors. What makes the MS-S1 Max is just how many other premium features MINISFORUM has packed in. After sharing a teaser on Chinese social media earlier this week, the company has unveiled more details at the IFA show in Germany.
As expected, the system will feature a PCIe x16 slot inside the case that can be used to add a discrete graphics card or other add-ons. And it has a healthy set of ports on the back, including:
The system also has two more USB-C ports on the front, along with a USB-A port, headphone jack, and two built-in microphones.
Other features include an internal 320W power supply and support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
MINISFORUM hasn't yet mentioned pricing or availability details, but the MS-S1 Max certainly looks larger than most of the company's mini PCs. According to a press release, it "scales from desktop to 2U rack," but I'm not sure if that means MINISFORUM plans to sell the computer with multiple case options or if the desktop PC is expected to be the right size to slide into a 2U server rack without any modifications.
