A Hong Kong-based company is running a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for a gaming laptop with a lot of unusual features. Like the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo line of laptops, the Krayzor gaming laptop is a dual-screen notebook with a large primary display and a smaller ultra-wide display positioned above the keyboard.
But Krayzor didn't stop there. The company also equipped the notebook with a mechanical RGB backlit keyboard with user-replaceable keys. And the laptop's discrete GPU is a removable MXM graphics card, which means you can upgrade the GPU… assuming you can find another MXM GPU that you want to use. They're not exactly common.
Should anybody actually buy this laptop? I'm not sure. It's packed with a combination of intriguing features and questionable design choices. And it's the first crowdfunding campaign from a company you've probably never heard of before.
The primary display is a 16 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel, 240 Hz screen, while the second screen is a 12.3 inch touchscreen. But that second screen is awkwardly positioned above the keyboard. Not only does the screen not have much of a tilt, which could make it difficult to see, but you'll have to reach past the chunky keys on the keyboard to reach the display, making it awkward to use as a touch input.
And under the hood the laptop is powered by an Intel Core i9-12900H processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics. While those certainly aren't bad, they're both looking a little long in the tooth in 2025.
The system is also pretty thick and heavy, measuring 48mm (1.9 inches) thick when the lid is closed, and weighing 2.85 kg (6.3 pounds).
Other features include an 80 Wh battery, a 1MP webcam plus IR camera for face recognition, and support for WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. There are three fans inside the case for cooling and three knobs above the trackpad that give you physical controls for volume and brightness (with one knob for each screen).
Ports include:
The laptop comes with a 220W (19V/11.58A) power supply.
Krayzor is offering barebones models for as low as $851 during a Launch Day crowdfunding special or $890 for Super Early Bird backers. That's marked down from an expected $1290 retail price. But keep in mind that you don't get memory, storage, or an operating system at that price: you'll have to pay $109 extra for 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD or pay $260 for a 32GB/2TB add-on.
When I saw the crowdfunding campaign, my first thought was that this is probably just a rebranded version of something that's already available in China. And it might be. But if it is, I can't find the exact model.
In terms of possible red flags, while Krayzor does have a video and some animated GIFs that appear to show working prototypes, I haven't seen any independent reviews of the hardware. And based on a series of deleted reddit posts, it looks like someone associated with the company may have been spamming various communities.
