Amazon's new Fire TV Stick 4K Select is an interesting entry in the media streaming space since it's the first Fire TV device to ship with Vega OS instead of an Android-based version of Fire OS. But while that may be a good thing for Amazon, it's not at all clear that it's a good thing for users: there are a lot of things that you can do on a Fire OS streamer that aren't supported on Vega.

So I have mixed feelings about the fact that Amazon is currently selling the Fire TV Stick 4K (Fire OS) for $30 ($20 off the list price). On the one hand, that means that the more capable model is currently cheaper than the less-capable version. On the other hand, I can't help but wonder if Amazon is hoping to clear inventory of this older model to speed the transition from Fire OS to Vega OS.
