Lilbits: Kensington’s new TrackBall, AMD’s new names for old chips, and a power bank that’s also a game console,

In my ongoing quest for ergonomic computer input devices, the Kensington Expert Mouse Wireless Trackball has been one of my favorite purchases of the past few years. While I still prefer a mouse for precision work like audio and video editing, the large trackball, scroll wheel, and multiple buttons make it easy to do most computer work without putting strain on my wrist.

Earlier this year we reported that Kensington had a new model on the way when the company won an award for a previously unannounced model. Now it's official: the new Expert Mouse TB800 EQ is coming soon, and it brings a few interesting changes. Instead of using two AA batteries, there's a built-in rechargeable battery said to be good for up to four months of run time. There's a USB-C port for charging, but which you can also use for a wired connection to a computer. And Kensington has reduced the height of the device, added side scroll dials and more programmable buttons, and built the palm rest into the device rather than offering a detachable pad. Oh, and the company has also increased the price by $20.

Kensington's Expert Mouse TB800 EQ TrackBall is thinner than its predecessor & has a built-in palm rest, side scroll dials + an extra row of buttons on top. Coming soon for $130, it supports Bluetooth, wired, or 2.4 GHz USB wireless dongle connections. www.kensington.com/news/news-pr…

This 5,000 wireless power bank is also a retro game console with a small display, speaker, D-Pad, and action buttons. It comes with 300 games pre-installed. It's unclear if/when you can get one though: The Mobile Boy crowdfunding campaign is Japan-only for now. www.designboom.com/technology/m…

AMD is rebranding some older processors to be more in line with its current naming conventions. The only things new about the Ryzen 100 and Athlon/Ryzen 10 series chips are their names though – these are based on Zen 2 and Zen 3+ architecture. videocardz.com/newz/amd-aga…
