The $229 Retroid Pocket 6 handheld has a 120 Hz AMOLED display & Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

The Retroid Pocket 6 is a handheld game console with a 5.5 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel AMOLED display featuring a 120 Hz refresh rate, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, and up to 12GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

In other words, it has the kind of hardware you might have found in a flagship smartphone two or three years ago. But by using slightly older components, Retroid can keep the price low: the Retroid Pocket 6 starts at $229 (or $209 during a launch promotion).

The starting price is for an entry-level model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the top tier 12GB/256GB configuration sells for $279 (or $259 at launch).

As the name suggests, this ain't the first pocket-sized handheld from Retroid. Compared with the previous-gen Retroid Pocket 6 the new model has a faster processor, speedier memory, a faster screen refresh rate, a bigger battery, and support for WiFi 7.

Other features remain pretty similar though, including support for 27W fast charging, a USB 3.1 Type-C port with support for video output, and an Android 13-based operating system:

Like its predecessor, the Retroid Pocket 3 also features dual analog sticks with 3D hall sensors with RGB light rings, analog triggers, and a D-Pad and action buttons. But the company has also added user-programmable M1 and M2 buttons to the front of the device, just under the display. There are also hardware buttons for Home and Back functions.

If you prefer the design of the older (and slightly smaller) Retroid Pocket 5, the company does have another new handheld that keeps the older display, battery and chassis but brings a few updates.

The new Retroid Pocket G2 is basically a Retroid Pocket 5 that has a Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 processor, LPDDR5x memory, and Bluetooth 5.4 support. It ships with Android 15 instead of Android 13 and sells for $219 (although it's currently on sale for $199).
