MOREFINE G2 is an RTX 5060Ti graphics dock with 16GB GDDR7 and… questionable value at $1099

A little over a year ago Chinese mini PC maker MOREFINE introduced a compact graphics dock called the MOREFINE G1 that allowed you to connect an NVIDIA RTX 40-Series GPU to a laptop, handheld, or mini PC with an OCuLink or Thunderbolt 3 or 4 cable.

Now the company is back with a new model, cleverly called the MOREFINE G2. Available for pre-order for $1099, it’s basically the same size and shape as its predecessor, but this time it has an NVIDIA RTX 5060Ti GPU inside and support for Thunderbolt 5 as well as OCuLink.

While the move to Thunderbolt 5 is nice, theoretically bringing faster data transfer speeds, the move to an RTX 5060Ti GPU is… an interesting choice.

That’s because MOREFINE is currently selling a G1 eGPU dock with RTX 4080 with 12GB of GDDR6 memory for $959. While the new MOREFINE G2 has a newer GPU with 16GB of GDDR7 memory, the RTX 5060Ti is more of an entry-level GPU while the RTX 4080 is a premium model. So even though it’s an older GPU with less RAM, it will most likely deliver higher frame rates and better overall gaming performance… and it costs $140 less than the new model.

It’s possible that MOREFINE could expand the G2 lineup in the future with RTX 5070 or higher GPUs, but they’ll likely carry even higher price tags, because it’s 2026 and everything is expensive these days.

Personally, if I were in the market for a GPU dock, I’d probably rather get one that lets you bring your own graphics card so that you wouldn’t need to buy a new dock every time you want to upgrade the performance. But I suppose the appeal of graphics docks like this is that they’re portable: the GPD G2 measures just 140 x 100 x 54mm (5.5″ x 3.9″ x 2.1″) and weighs about 700 grams (1.5 pounds). That makes it easy far easier to travel with than a dock with support for user-replaceable desktop graphics cards.

In addition to letting you add an RTX 5060Ti GPU to your PC, the MOREFINE G2 acts as a USB hub with a set of ports that includes:

  • 1 x HDMI 2.1
  • 1 x DisplayPort 2.0
  • 3 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A (10 Gbps)
  • 1 x Thunderbolt 5 (for data & video output)
  • 1 x Thunderbolt 5 (for connection to a PC)
  • 1 x OCuLink port (PCIe 4.0 x4 connection to a PC)
  • 1 x DC power input
  • The docking station comes with a 330W power adapter and USB cable, but no OCuLink cable – you’ll need to provide your own.
