Zinwa Q27 will be a modern BlackBerry Clone with a 3.92 inch display, QWERTY keyboard and Android 16 software

The Zinwa Q27 is an upcoming smartphone that combines modern features like an AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, and Android 16 software with a retro design: it has a 3.92 inch display and a physical QWERTY keyboard.

In other words, it looks like a BlackBerry. And that's not surprising when you consider that this phone is being developed by the folks behind the Zinwa Q25 Pro, which is basically a BlackBerry Q20 Classic that's had its guts scooped out and replaced with modern Android phone hardware. What makes the new Zinwa Q27 different is that it doesn't repurpose any old hardware – it's an all new device.

There are no real-world pictures yet, and Zinwa says it'll take be at least eight months before the phone is ready for mass production, which means it's unlikely to be released before May, 2026. Pricing should be announced soon.

In the meantime, the developers have begun sharing some details on Discord, so we have a first look at a drawing (shown above) and spec sheet (below).

The phone features a 3.92 inch, 1080 x 1240 pixel AMOLED display (with a 31:27 aspect ratio), 12GB of LPDDR5 memory and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, plus a Dimensity 7300 processor featuring:

  • 4 x ARM Cortex-A78 CPU cores @ 2.5 GHz
  • 4 x ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores
  • Mali-G615 MC2 graphics
  • MediaTek NPU 655
  • Other features include 50MP rear and 16MP front cameras, a 3500 or 4000 mAh battery, support for 33W fast charging, stereo speakers, a microSD card reader for removable storage, a nano SIM card slot and eSIM support, and support for WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, and 4G and 5G cellular networks.

Zinwa says it's not finished with retrofitted BlackBerry phones. The Q27 represents the start of a new strategy that will involve two product lines: "BlackBerry Revival" devices and original devices. Both will feature QWERTY keyboards.

In addition to the Q27, the team is also working on new "revival" phones based on the BlackBerry Q10 and BlackBerry Passport (Q30). Early samples of the Q10 could be ready to ship in early 2026.
