The Samsung Galaxy Book5 Edge 5G is a laptop with a 15.6 inch FHD display, but a relatively compact design: it weighs just 1.66kg (3.66 pounds) and measures 15.5mm (0.61 inches) thick. With an entry-level Qualcomm Snapdragon X (X1-26-100) processor and a 61.2 Wh battery, it should get long battery life.
That chip isn't exactly a speed demon, so performance will probably be acceptable for basic tasks, but underwhelming for more demanding jobs. But there are two things that make this laptop interesting: it features an integrated 5G sub-6 GHz cellular modem for always-connected capabilities, and it's already available for purchase in the UK… even though Samsung hasn't officially announced the notebook yet.

Customers in the UK can pick up the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Edge 5G for £949 (about $1250) including taxes.
The notebook ships standard with Qualcomm's 8-core processor with Adreno graphics and a 45 TOPS NPU, 16GB of LPDDR5x onboard mem ory and 512GB of UFS storage. While those specs aren't awful, it's a little disappointing to see Samsung using a chip made for sub-$600 laptops in a model that sells for nearly twice as much.
But at a time when there aren't a lot of 5G capable Windows laptops, it's nice to have another option.
Other features include support for WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, stereo 1.5W speakers, a 2MP webcam, and a set of ports that includes two USB4 Type-C ports, one USB 3.2 Type-A port, an HDMI 2.1 port, headset jack, and microSD card reader (that shares a slot with a SIM card reader).
The laptop also features a fingerprint reader, ambient light sensor, and full-sized keyboard with a number pad and a large "Clickpad" style touchpad.
